Eco - March 2021
As part of our ECO learning, Year 3 have been designing and creating the 'dream machine' that would help our planet recycle better. Year 3 presented their ideas to their class and evaluated each other's work. We have also taken part in a competition with Recycle for Greater Manchester to create something out of our recyclable rubbish. We have had lots of fun and hopefully we will win a prize!
Christmas Activities and Panto - December 2020
On Monday, we all arrived at school in our posh clothes for our Christmas party. We played lots of games and finished it off with a Christmas movie and party food. We have also been busy in class using our DT and art skills to make Christmas cards and calendars.
We had our annual pantomime in school this week (virtually). We loved making our props to hold up to the Genie on the Zoom call while watching Aladdin.
Commando Jo - December 2020
We had the opportunity to take part in a whole class secret mission this week with Mrs Wilkinson. We had to complete a challenge to replicate the Eiffel tower by building something tall, sturdy and safe with the equipment we had. We impressed Miss Lawton with our excellent communication and we presented our towers to the competing teams.
Takeover Day - November 2020
We have had a very exciting opportunity with Gallery Oldham to take part in a virtual Takeover Day. This involved learning all about the artist William Stott from Oldham. We looked in detail at his painting called 'The White Mountain' and all created our own poem. Due to the gallery being closed at the moment, all of our learning his going to be put into an online exhibition on the Gallery Oldham website. As soon as it is online, we will let you know.
Let There Be Light - October 2020
Year 3 have been learning all about light and shadows in our Science topic. We have been investigating how light travels and what a light source is. Here, we have been making small holes inside cardboard boxes to try and find the objects that Miss Lawton has hidden. We found out that our eyes need light to see and light only travels in straight lines.
