Take a look at some of the great things we have been doing in Year 6 Class.

Our School Allotment - Winter Preparations - December 2017

Our school are working towards RHS Level 4.  Year 6 started by digging over the beds and putting manure on them to prepare the allotment for winter.

Poppy Appeal - November 2017

Year 6 have been collecting money for the Poppy Appeal. As well as selling poppies throughout the day, we have also made our own from felt - creating brooches and hair bobbles. Additionally, on Friday 10th November, we made the short trip to Lees War Memorial and placed our own wreaths as a mark of respect to the fallen soldiers.

Police Officer Visit - November 2017

Y6 were visitied by a local Police Officer and a PCSO to discuss hate crime as a link to our SMSC and British Values, particularly Mutual Respect and Tolerance. The children loved asking questions and were given plenty of advice about staying safe and how to avoid conflict.

Nicola White Olympic Gold Medalist Visit to School - Wednesday 18th October 2017

Nicola White came in to our achievement assembly and spoke to the whole school.  She was also interviewed by years 5 and 6. She was very inspirational and motivational!  Nicola White, MBE is a British field hockey player. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed for the national team in the women's tournament, winning a bronze medal.  Four years later, she was on the Olympic team that won gold in Rio.

She was born in Shaw and Crompton, and began playing hockey at the age of 7 at school and started her club hockey at Saddleworth HC and is now currently playing for Holcombe HC in the Premier Division. In addition to her sporting accolades, she completed her Sports Science Degree at Loughborough College in 2013 and attended Oldham Hulme Grammar School through primary and secondary education.

Year 6 Peace Assembly - October 2017

Our assembly was all about the subject of peace.  We had great fun dressing up in 1960s clothes.
